Arbuckle Hat Pattern

This whimsical hat was inspired by the ancient and beautiful Arbuckle Mountains in Southern Oklahoma. It is knitted with two colors of DK weight yarn on US #5 double pointed needles. The pattern features a striking two color zigzag motif, easy garter stitch ear flaps and is quick and interesting to knit. The pattern is knitted from a chart, but detailed written instructions are also included. The ear flaps are knitted flat, then are joined to the rest of the hat which is knitted in the round.

45 grams DK weight yarn (Main color)
35 grams DK weight yarn (Contrasting color)
US #5 DPNS and 16 inch circular needles
Yarn needle and stitch markers

Gauge
7 stitches and 8 rows per inch

Finished Measurements
21 inches around at brim. 8 inches from the bottom of brim to the top (excluding ear flaps).
